The upcoming December holiday season can feel like some of the lonelie
st days on the planet. This is a time when it seems like everyone is a couple except YOU.

Be creative about where men might be hiding. Here are 10 suggestions to get you started.
- Sporting Goods Stores- men are in them buying themselves running shoes, weights or gym equipment all the time and men love nothing more than giving advice…. so to get things started, go up and ask them their opinion on something you are thinking of buying.
- Friend’s holiday parties-it’s hard to go to these alone so tag along with one of your single friends. You never know who might show up.
- Local Upscale Casinos-My family and I played the Poker Slots at a local casino during Thanksgiving. I sat at a slot machine and 2 men sat down next to me. They couldn’t have been nicer or happier to help me when I couldn’t figure out how to change the poker game from Jacks or Better to Deuces Wild. And I was happy to let them!
- Mall Shopping-Even men need to buy gifts for their family over the holidays. Worth checking out. Try the food court too. Shopping is exhausting so you might find a few men taking a break there.
- Home Depot or Lowe’s-Men fix things in their homes all the time and often fix things in their family’s homes as well. See a cute guy minus the ring? Like #1-ask him for advice.
- Panera-Working out of my home can be isolating so I’ll often go to Panera and grab some lunch while working. Lots of men do too. Worth checking out.
- Whole Foods or your favorite Grocery Store around dinner time-Single men have to eat and most don’t cook for themselves so you’ll often find them around the prepared foods section picking out that nights dinner.
- Local Upscale Restaurants that people our age frequent-I can’t tell you the number of single men I’ve seen dining at the bar on a weeknight. Go for a glass of wine either by yourself or with a friend. Also, check out the “Happy Hour” so many food establishments now offer.
- Meetup.com-more and more over 50 groups can be found on Meetup. Also try Meetups that cater to special interests you have like Scrabble, Wine Tasting or Dining.
- The best place of all-your computer. Online Dating is the biggest hangout for men our age 24/7. The Bonus…. you can even do it in your jammies. Free sites like POF offer you the ability to chat with men who are online. It’s a good way to meet men and best of all…it may lead to getting a first date with a really nice guy.
Wherever you are, it’s worth making the effort to speak to any man you come in contact with…whether you’re in line waiting for coffee or at the casino playing the slots.
A man needs encouragement to speak to you so smile, ask him questions and appreciate any help he ends up giving you.
